This Weeks Hero Was Suggested By Beth

Her name is Holly Holeman. Her job is working at a flower shop. And her mission to make sure soldiers are never forgotten. Which is why she’s out at Arlington National Cemetery every week putting flowers around the headstones. She usually does this alone, but on a bitter cold day in February of 2007 she was met with family members of fallen soldiers buried in Section 60 of the cemetery who helped her to place the roses.

These brave men and women sacrifice so much in their lives so that others may enjoy the freedoms we get to enjoy everyday. For that, I am proud to call them Hero.
We Should Not Only Mourn These Men And Women Who Died, We Should Also Thank God That Such People Lived

What a great idea for a weekly post:)
So many worthy heroes on your blog, Anna. You are right that we should thank God that such people lived.
Thank God we live in a country such as this.
Thanks LB, I wish I could take credit for this, but it’s Chris’s brainchild and I just love passing the message on. If you’d like to join the blogroll, here’s the founder’s blog address.

Tom, I had the most moving experience today when I thanked a soldier for his service. He’d obviously been injured while in Iraq (he was using a cane). I just wanted him to know that I truly appreciated his sacrifice (and his wife’s sacrifice as well…she was with him). I almost cried at how surprised he was by my gratitude. He said he’d been called every name in the book and sometimes wondered why he continued to fight, but then someone like me would come along and he would remember what he was fighting for. I really did want to cry, but he gave me a hug and he and his wife thanked me for thinking of them! I don’t think I will ever forget that meeting!
