This is my great-uncle. He’s a character and the definition of the term “salt of the earth.” He said that he had to stop dressing up when he went to the senior center ’cause the ladies wouldn’t leave him alone! He’s dressed up in this picture because it was from his birthday party three years ago. He celebrated another birthday last week and though he won’t see this (I don’t think he’s ever laid a finger on a computer), I wanted to wish him a
HAPPY 103rd BIRTHDAY!
By the way, he received birthday cards from both his governor and President Bush!

Woo hoo! Happy Birthday to your great-uncle~~!!
What a handsome Man…
Happy BIRTHDAY !
outstanding…
Yankeemom, It’s amazing to think that I have a great-uncle who has seen the world go from horses to cars to planes and to the moon!
Brooklyn, he’s actually just started showing his age in the last 10 years or so. If you saw him in a picture from oh, 10 or 15 years ago next to one from the ’50s or ’60s, you’d think they were taken within a short period of time! He really hadn’t changed for all my growing up years!
I should look so good at 63, much less at 103. Now I’m depressed.
A very Happy B-Day to him!
I hear you, ol’broad! He’s a “caretaker.” He’s happiest when he is taking care of something or someone else and you can tell that his generosity of spirit affected him inside and out!
Happy Birthday to your great uncle. Wow, the stories he could tell!
No, doubt about it, M*A! He’s one of those people who uses “down home” analogies…such as he’s never wanted to be any higher than his corn (no need to fly) or lower than his potatoes (buried or a miner).
Happy Birthday to him! How great to receive cards from governors and the President of the U.S.
I thought that was pretty cool, too Word!
Wow! Belated birthday wishes to your great uncle. One of the things I’ve learned now that my Mom is in a retirement community is how many strong men and women are living to impressive ages, and doing it with a lot of lessons to teach us.
I know what you mean, Book. I know that my great-uncle has lived so long because he’s always been a caretaker. He is laid back and I’ve never seen him in a bad mood. He just takes life as it comes and makes the best of every situation.
