I have always enjoyed the one or two minutes that Neil Cavuto takes at the end of his show to give a little monologue. Today's was very good in that he points out something that's been bugging a lot of us since we found out about Zarqawi yesterday.
"Good job."
How often do you hear those two words? If never, it could mean one of two things:
(a) You're not doing a good job, or
(b) You are, but no one cares to mention it.
It's like those stories of parents with the kid who comes home with straight "As" and one "B," and the dad focuses on the one "B." My mom and dad were just grateful if I continued advancing in school!
But that's not my point. Abu Musab al-Zarqawi is.
We kill the guy — good news. But from Democrats there's barely a good word, if any word at all, for the president. I think Nancy Pelosi more or less said: well, it's about time.
Never mind they never spared criticism of the war, or magnified every little thing going wrong with the war. But would it have killed anyone to simply say, "Good job, Mr. President. You nabbed a bad guy."
Would it have killed the advocates of pulling out of Iraq to say that had we done so earlier, we would have never gotten Zarqawi?
Of course not.
Republicans were just as guilty of this behavior during the Clinton years: Few tipping their hat to the president for presiding over a pretty good economy.
The way I see it, we all make mistakes and this president, like the one before him, has had some doozies. But now and then, they do something right — like killing a guy who loved to kill us. That's pretty good, because he was pretty bad.
I just think it's pretty sad, when those who want to carp are so emotionally constipated, that they can't get out of the way of their own verbal crap.
Right after the news of the bombing and subsequent death of Zarqawi made the news, there was a teeny, tiny glimmer of unity between the parties in their satisfaction over this terrorist's demise. Now all these conspiracy theories are floating around about how it was staged, it was a set up, that Zarqawi wasn't that big of deal and what about bin Laden. It's very aggravating. They ignore the good economy, the very low unemployment rate, the high home sales and now they're claiming that Zarqawi wasn't that important! A major terrorist is dead and cannot harm another person…hello?…this is a good thing!

Any unity you may have noticed from the left side of the aisle was done grudgingly. They had to make some mention, and they did. Murtha, in his comments, was able to get a Haditha shot in there, as well. He should be jailed!!
This is the same party which actually WANTED Howard Dean as their all high exhalted spokes-leader weenie.
The elevator.., she ain’t goin’ all the way up.
If you know what I mean.
Good job! Nice post! Your thoughts were very good. Thanks!
Anna: I know how much you support our troops.
There’s a story you might have heard about where the Italian Embassy in Washington invited soldiers for an Italian meal after learning about the Hilton shutting down Fran O’Briens restaurant.
MD conservative has the story:

Please take a shot at the comments section if you visit. The spirit of a real feel good story is being dumped on by an anonymouse lefty troll.
Isn’t it sad that the Libs and the MSM (same thing, really) are so negative about this? Imagine what they will say when we get bin Laden?!?!
Items of Interest…
Here are some posts I found especially interesting today. I hope you will visit these great blogs!…
Conspiracy theories..u knew that would happen eh?..good posting!..:)
Dave, I can’t stand Murtha and he should be ashamed of himself calling them murders when there is still an investigation going on! American Thinker has an article showing discrepancies in the various “eye witness” and photo stories. Very interesting!
Stew, the elevator never went to the top with ol’ Dean. That’s why he’s always blowing his top…nothing holding it on!
Thank you benning…I need to post another painting!
Mike, I did a link to THIRDWAVEDAVE a couple weeks back when they were first talking about the Italian embassy treating our recovering heros to dinner! I’m not sure I want to read the comments, I’d just get really ticked off!
Lady Jane, thanks for the link and I agree that they will never be happy until they can figure out a way to impeach Bush.
I know, Angel, it’s crazy in their world! Bad is good and good is bad…they are all messed up!
It appears to me that both political parties are more worried about staying in power than what is best for the country. Both will spin any event to make it fit heir agenda and the public seems to buy it..but not near as many of the public are buying it as they used to.
You are so right, GUY. I am very tired of our elected leaders working for themselves instead of for the people who elected them!
Banning me is one thing. Removing my post so that your readers never have to see it is another. This just smacks of information control and propaganda. How typically conservative. So it is true what they say about conservatives now days resembling nazis. Deleting my posts because they contained good points that were contrary to your talking points is straight out of Goeble’s playbook.
Well, since I was trying to ban your comments in which I found the language offensive, that's what happened. Comparing me to a Nazi is really very amusing because that is the usual liberal fallback position.
I have a rule…it's my blog, if I don't like what you have to say in the comments, I hold the right to delete them, especially when it is because you use language that I feel is inappropriate for my blog. Yes, you have free speech on the internet, but this is my blog and I say what I want on it and your disgusting descriptive terms do not belong here.
Why don't you get your own blog where you can say whatever you like and use the gutter language to your heart's content, because you will not use it here.
I apologize for using the “O” word. Didn’t realize it could be considered obscene. I was thinking it is just another physiological function kind of like a sneeze or a bowel movement. Besides, Rush Limbaugh uses it frequently to describe what he calls the Democrat’s “glee” at the bad news in Iraq. I mean, I’ve always known that Rush was an obscene pig but I never thought it was because he uses the “O” word on his program.
I know I could get my own blog. But isn’t that why you blog, to get replies and discussions going on the issues you post? You learn the most from those people whose opinions differ from yours. Is simply having an echo chamber your reason for blogging? Are you so insecure in your beliefs that you can only tolerate comments on your blog that ditto what you already believe?
1) I don’t listen to Rush and I never have.
2) Just because it’s a bodily function doesn’t make it appropriate for use on my blog.
3) I don’t mind differing opinions, it was the use of language that I objected to.
4) I did not call you names such as Nazi and since you are a guest here, I would expect the same courtesy.
5) You know nothing about me, so please don’t presume to think you do.
Thank you.
OK….if we have that settled can we move on to the main issue which is Neil Cavuto complaining that the left is not celebrating the death of Al Zarqawi to his satisfaction? The truth is it’s been like four or five days and the carnage in Iraq is not showing any sign of slowing down. Neil Cavuto can continue to party like it’s 1995 while American troops are being slaughtered but personally I choose to support our soldiers who are still alive. I do this mainly by working to draw attention to the fact that the man who started this war is a criminal who needs to be held accountable for what he’s done. Bush’s trial and conviction in a world court would be the biggest blow we could strike against terrorism at the present time. We have made a mess of Iraq. The only logical course of action now is to begin pulling our troops out at once. The biggest problem with that is that tens of thousands of Iraqis will die as the chaos we leave behind us shakes itself out. This will be Bush’s legacy and of course he doesn’t want that so he sacrifices America’s finest to protect his name and tries to whip up these feelings of accomplishment from trivial little milestones like the death of Zarqawi. The saddest part of it all is the support he’s able to garner from people like Neil Cavuto and possibly yourself.
Michael, Neil’s comments were made the day after the bombing that killed Zarqawi. I found it interesting and thought to post it. I am not a blind follower of Bush, though I don’t believe he is the manically power hungry fiend that so many would paint him to be nor do I believe him to be a war criminal.
I am pro-Military. I am supporting them. They completed one of their objectives and for that, I congratulate them.
I am not there, so I cannot say what the real situation is, though I doubt that that situation is being portrayed with any accuracy by the media, either. They have their own agenda and I don’t trust them to tell anything close to the truth and yes, that goes for Fox News as well.
How exactly do you think you “support” the troops?
I have adopted several that I write to and send packages to. I donate to several military based charities.
Hi Anna,
Don’t you think that it is interesting that the pentagon had Al-Zar-Craziee pinpointed three times before the invasion of Iraq and we could have taken him out of service then buut Bush nad Co. held back because they thought it would interfere with the case for invading Iraq?
Do you not think that it is the least bit odd that getting into Iraq was more important than actually preventing the terrorist from setting up his network and getting to work killing people?
That seems pretty dispicable to me.
As for the people who do not choose to see this as a cause for celebration, I am throwing my hat in with that crowd. Why? Because I do not believe that killing people makes us any better. The policies of this America are War, pollution, consumption and corruption. The act of blowing someone up doesn’t make us any safer. I wish you could see that.
Time magazine has a big picture of Zarqawi on the front cover with a big red X over it. My wife and I were discussing how ironic it is that we’re supposed to be such a “Christian” nation yet we can collectively murder another human being and then we gloat and celebrate it.
Of course the “right” justifies this behavior by pointing out that the victim was himself a brutal murderer. They find euphemisms for their brutality so they never have to call what they’ve done “murder.” We “eliminated him, took him out, ect.” You can’t really justify celebrating, like a bunch of barbarians the death of another person. Nowhere in the words of Christ did he ever say that this behavior is acceptable provided the other person was “mean” to you first.
